Realize Your Roleplay Experience
Tabletop Roleplaying games like Dungeons & Dragons, Call of Cthulu, Cyberpunk, and others are all the rage these days.
But finding a group to play with, and worse, someone to act as the game master, can be a challenge.
At Story Alchemy, we have a passion for storytelling and a special place in our hearts for Tabletop Roleplaying.
We’re here to solve your gaming needs - acting as your storytellers, gamemasters, and guides.
Campaign - Existing Material
You’ve heard about D&D, watched some actual play videos, and want to play a game. How do you go about finding a group?
That’s where we come in. Our professional gamemastery services will setup the game, create an online platform or provide a live environment, and even find other players if you don’t have friends willing to take the plunge.
We have a wide variety of games that we’re experts at running as game or dungeon masters, and all you have to do is show up!
Rates and Duration
$15 per person per session
Sessions usually last 2-4 hours.
Campaign - Homebrew
If you want a more unique experience, or don’t like the sound of any pre-written modules, our gamemasters are also storytellers.
Let us create a unique world for you and your fellow players with an original story and possibly even a homebrew setting!
Rates and Duration
$20 per person per session - Sessions usually last 2 to 4 hours
Request A GameOne Shot
Sometimes you don’t want to commit to a long running campaign or just want a taste of the game. Sometimes there are stories that are more like a movie versus a series.
That’s where the one-shot comes in.
These are great for parties, birthdays, and holidays. There are plenty of one-shot pre-published adventures or you can have our team make something original.
Rates and Duration
$25/$30 per person for pre-written/custom - Sessions usually last 4 hours
Request A GameShill Roleplaying Character (SRC)
Sometimes when you’re running a game, you need someone to come in and play a role, serve a purpose, or act as a shill, allowing you as the gamemaster to keep your hands clean, so to speak.
As professional roleplayers, we can offer to come in and serve this purpose. This might be an ongoing NPC with an agenda you really want to bring extra life to, or some other nefarious GM purpose.
Either way, we’ve got your back!
Rates
$10 per session - includes custom character creation and voice portrayal upon request
Request A CharacterCharacter Design/Creation
Building a character can be tough.
Besides all the technical details you have to keep in mind, there is an art to making a character that fits into the game world, has opportunities to play off of other characters, and has momentum with a story that makes them fun to play regardless of the GM’s story.
As storytellers and professional gamemasters, we know how to make all of these things a reality.
Rates
$25 per character - includes custom character backstory, compelling motivations, description, and character arc
Request A CharacterCustom Module/Campaign
You’re running something but you and your players have all read and played through everything out there.
And you don’t have time to come up with a custom module, story, or campaign of your own.
We can build out a custom adventure just for you!
We’ll make the maps, create the NPCs, link to the monsters, and have a fleshed out game for you faster than you can find time to schedule the game with your group!
Rates and Duration
$40 Custom Module - Approximately 4 hours
$100 Custom Campaign - Approximately 20 hours
Request A Module/CampaignStory Assessment
We get it. Sometimes you just need another pair of eyes to look over what you’re working on to tell you you’re on the right track. Or maybe you know something is off but can’t quite figure out what it is.
That’s where the Story Assessment comes in!
We’ll take a look at what you’ve got - it could be just an outline or maybe a complete draft manuscript. The review is high level, but covers:
Broad Assessment
Overview of the entire work along with general feedback on the project. Do we like it? Does it fit into the defined genre?
Review of Plot
Identification of what’s working and what’s not. General suggestions on ways to improve overall plot.
Structure
Analysis of where you got the structure right and where it is having problems or needs help.
Pacing and Flow
Does the story move at the right speed in the right places? Do scenes flow into one another logically?
World building
Did you strike the right balance on inclusion of world elements? Do these elements fit into the story seamlessly?
Character development
Do the characters feel alive? Do they have an appropriate role to the story? Does each character, major and minor, have a distinct arc?
Rates and Timeline
$250 for up to 80,000 words
$5/1,000 words over 80k
Post edit re-assessment $125
The output of this review will be a 1-2 page letter capturing the main strengths and weaknesses of your story. We’ll also review our thoughts with you via video conference if desired. The idea is to give you a clear direction on how to polish your project.
The timeline on a story assessment is 1-2 weeks.
Submit a ProjectDevelopmental Editing
The king of edits. The big dog. If you don’t pay for any other type of editing, do this one.
A developmental edit is a deep dive into your story. We look at all aspects of the project and provide detailed assessments of each.
Character development
A review of each primary character and an overview of secondary characters. We’ll assess whether they feel real, if their motivations make sense, and if they are consistent throughout. We will also look at their character arcs and assess if those are working.
Plot structure
Does your story follow the right structure? Do you hit the right beats at the right time?
Pacing
An analysis to ensure the pacing is appropriate for the genre. Do you have clearly defined stakes and ratcheting tension and release?
Dialogue
Do your characters sound distinct? Is dialogue natural and believable? Does each one have a voice that is linked to their background?
World building
A review of the extent of your world building. Is it too heavy handed or does it have the right feel? Does the world building have a natural inclusion in your story? Are the world building elements done in the right balance?
Magic system
Does your magic system work? Are there unintended consequences that need to be addressed? Do you have consistent rules that are not contingent on plot needs?
Rates and Timeline
$15/1,000 words
+ Copy Edit $20/1,000 words
The output of our review will be a 10-12 page letter that goes through everything in detail. We will also review via video conference at your request to talk through the letter and make sure our feedback is clear.
As a courtesy, and to make sure you like the style and scope of our review process, we will provide a complimentary 10 page sample edit. If we mutually agree we’re a good fit, we will continue with the full edit.
The timeline for the complete developmental edit is 4-6 weeks.
